The quick answer

Colors are a starting point for reading effects and digivolution requirements—not a promise that every card of a color plays the same way.

Six colors, six starting points

Bandai’s system guide describes these broad tendencies. Individual cards, dual-color requirements and future releases can change how a deck plays.

RedAttack and DP boosts
BlueTechnical effects and digivolution cards
YellowSecurity recovery and DP reduction
GreenFaster, lower-cost digivolution
BlackDefense, Blocker and Reboot
PurpleDeletion and trash-focused effects

How to choose your first color

Pick a play pattern you enjoy, then read the cards together. If you like direct pressure, red may be easy to understand; if you prefer protecting a board, explore black. These are starting suggestions, not a tier list.

Follow the printed color and level requirements on each card. A familiar color alone does not guarantee that one Digimon can digivolve into another.

What is an archetype?

An archetype is a group of cards that share a strategy or work together through names, traits or effects. A color can contain several archetypes, and an archetype may use more than one color.

Until the launch card pool and competitive results are known, any “best deck” claim is provisional. Look for a consistent plan before chasing a color label.
